Yarn:

For this scarf pattern i used Cascade 220 which has an AMAZING amount of different shades which i absolutely love when choosing yarn for projects. It is made with 100% highland Peruvian wool and is perfect for crochet projects just like this as it blocks so nicely as it really opens up the stitch definition and that is exactly what you want when blocking a scarf.

This yarn is classed as more of a high end yarn but when you are making a scarf that you want to last for years then you should go for a yarn that will stand the test of time and i really feel this yarn is perfect for that.

  • 100 grams
  • 220 yards /200 meters
  • 100% wool
  • This yarn is hand wash only / Cascade 220 is machine washable

Notes:

  • This pattern is written using American standard crochet terminology and is worked in rows.
  • You will start with your increase rows and once you get to the desired width by following the repeating pattern you will then move on to the middle rows.
  • When you are working the middle rows there will be no more increasing so the width will now stay the same size until you are happy with the length before decreasing.
  • You will then finish with decrease rows so it will finish off in a point to match your increase rows.
  • There are no multiples for this pattern as you can keep repeating the pattern repeat rows when you are increasing your scarf.
  • At the end of each row there will be a stitch count in brackets which includes all dc and ch stitches (if you have any chain stitches) – if you are getting a different stitch count this means you have probably missed a ch1 stitch on your current row or your previous row.
  • Ch1 at the start of each row does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.
  • When the pattern states to ‘ ch1, skip next st, 1dc in next st’ – all you are doing is chaining 1, skipping the next stitch and 1dc in the next stitch, the skip next st could either be a dc stitch or a chain 1 stitch.
  • When the pattern states to dc2tog over the next 2sts, these stitches could be dc stitches or ch1 stitches.
  • For a magic ring reference video, click here. Or copy and paste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p298HxgsO1s&t=27s
  • If you have stars in your row – Repeat what is in between the stars from * to * until the end of the row unless otherwise stated.
  • Read each round carefully before starting the row.
