I have wanted to crochet a bow for a while now but it was one of those projects that i just hadnt got round to doing even though it could be done in less than hour but i can finally say i have done it. YAY!
The bow was worked in blohdc stitch and i love how it gives that rib effect but i always think when it’s done with thin yarn it looks like it has a knitted effect which i absolutely love and i hope you do too.
I made the bow by crocheting a rectangle first then joining the ends together which doubles the thickness of the bow and then wrapped a long piece of yarn around the middle to clinch it in so it gives it that ‘bow’ effect and then attached a crocodile clip.

I had originally made this by crocheting a smaller rectangle and not joined the ends but it was quite flimsy to be honest and really wasn’t happy with it but i am so glad i changed it.
For this crochet bow i used King Cole Luxury Merino DK just because i had some left over so any scrap yarn would be perfect, i did go down a hook size for it because i didn’t want to see any ‘gaps’ in between the stitches as such so i would recommend doing that too if you are using scrap yarn.
You can buy your yarn HERE
This bow can be worn by children or adults it is a super cute project!

Fasten off leaving a long tail to seam sides up.
Seaming:
- Using long tail and tapestry needle with right side facing you, fold rectangle in half and mattress stitch the ends together so they are completely joined all the way down
- Turn piece so the right side is facing you
- Cut a long piece of yarn from your yarn ball, tie in a knot at the back around the middle of rectangle – This should now look more like a bow
- You will now need to wrap your tails from your long piece of yarn around the bow a few times
Weave in ends and cut any loose ends.
Stick a crocodile clip using glue to the back of the hair bow, if you would prefer not to use glue you could always put the crocodile clip underneath the yarn that you wrapped around the middle and it will stay secure.
