Design
Today’s free crochet pattern is the Honest Asymmetrical Shawl which features a unique design that is sure to turn heads! It’s crocheted in a simple yet elegant filet stitch pattern which increases on one side to give it an asymmetrical shape and it also creates a beautiful drape. The Honest Asymmetrical Shawl is quite a simple and minimalist crochet pattern so it would be perfect for you if you’re not into fancy stitches.
The asymmetrical shape also adds a touch of modernity and uniqueness to the design, making it a standout accessory for any outfit. I worked my shawl using Lion Brand Mandala in the color Genie and i think it really shows up those beautiful stitches which will complement any outfit. Plus, it’s a great way to stay cozy and stylish during the cooler months.

Color Changes:
I didn’t really interfere with the color changes with my first yarn cake, I just let the color changes happen naturally.
But before I started my second yarn cake I made sure I finished at the end of a row and then added the second yarn cake in then so I wasn’t changing abruptly from gray to green for example in the middle of the shawl.
Notes:
- Ch2 and Ch3 at the start of the rows does not count as a stitch
- Repeat what is in between the stars from * to * until the end of the row
- If you have ** in the row you are following – You will need to stop at ** near the end of the row and then follow the instructions before the word turn
- Read each row carefully before starting the row

Last Row. Ch1, 1sc in each dc across – Fasten off and weave in ends.
Move on to blocking.
Blocking:
Don’t be scared to really stretch the shawl when blocking as it really opens up the stitches and gives it definition and makes your shawl lay completely flat.
You can either:
Soak the finished shawl for 20 minutes in cool water and squeeze excess water out gently. Do not twist. Lay damp shawl on blocking boards and stretch to the finished size stated (or to your desired width and length) use blocking pins to hold in place. Let your shawl dry completely before unpinning.
or steam block the shawl with either a hand steamer or the steam function on an iron. Just be careful not to directly touch the crochet shawl as it will burn the yarn. Hold one inch above the shawl and flatten shawl down with your hand whilst gently stretching the shawl out. This will increase the size of the shawl and it will give the shawl more drape.
