Oribus Blanket – Free Crochet Pattern
Supplies You Will Need:
- 5mm Crochet Hook
- Caron Baby Cakes
- Hayfield Bonus Aran With wool – Border Only – Scrap Yarn
- Yarn Needle
- Tape Measure
- Scissors
Size 28.16 x 29 inches approx
Stitches Used:
Ch – Chain
Sc – Single Crochet
Dc – Double Crochet
Sts – Stitches
Bst – Bobble Stitch
- Yarn over and insert your hook into the indicated stitch.
- Yarn over and pull up a loop. (You will have 3 loops on your hook)
- Yarn over again and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook. (You will now have 2 loops on your hook)
- Repeat the above steps from the start 4 more times in the same stitch. (You will now have 6 loops on your hook)
- Yarn over one last time and pull through all 6 loops on your hook.

Notes:
- This pattern is written using American standard crochet terminology.
- This crochet blanket pattern is worked in rows starting from the bottom working towards the top
- Turn your blanket over at the end of each row to begin your next row.
- Ch1 at the start of each row does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.
- Repeat what is in between the stars from * to * until the end of the round.
- If you have a ** in your row you need to follow the pattern from * to * across the entire row and then when you get near the end of the row you will finish your last repeat at ** because you can no longer complete the entire repeat then follow what it says to do to complete the row.
- Read each row carefully before starting the row.

R1. Ch116, 1dc in 2nd ch from the hook and in each chain across, turn
R2. Ch1, 2dc in very first dc, skip next 2dc * Work (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in next dc, skip next 2dc * Repeat from * to * all the way across the row until 1dc remains, 2dc in last dc, turn
R3. Ch1, 1dc in each dc across and 1dc in each ch1 space across, turn
R4. Ch1, 1sc in first 3dc * Bst in next dc, 1sc in next 3dc * Repeat from * to * all the way across the row, turn
R5. Ch1, 1dc in each st across, turn
Repeat rows 2-5 until your blanket measures 27.5 inches approx finishing on row 3.
Fasten off, weave in ends. Move on to border.
Border – Scrap yarn was used:
R1. Join yarn in top right hand corner, work 1sc evenly around the entire blanket, working (1sc, ch2, 1sc) in each corner of the blanket, join with a slip stitch to beg sc
R2. Work 1sc in each sc around, working (1sc, ch2, 1sc) in each corner ch2 space, join with a slip stitch to beg sc
R3. Work 1sc in each sc around, working 3sc in each corner ch2 space, join with a slip stitch to beg sc
Fasten off and weave in ends.
