Design

Orla is a beautiful delicate shawl which has a little bit more open-ness to it than the Ferne shawl but it still can cover you up very easily in any weather. This is a repeated pattern which makes it very easy to crochet and it works up fairly quickly, starting at the tip and working up in asymmetrical shape you will have it crocheted in no time, plus you can use it any weight yarn which makes it so versatile.

This crochet shawl is crocheted with dc and chain stitches which makes it a beginner friendly pattern and such an easy asymmetrical shawl to crochet, with this one you can easily watch your programs, what i like to do is attach a stitch marker on the shawl the side that it increases on so i know that is the side where i have to increase so i don’t miss it or worse yet do it on the opposite side.

The yarn i used for this pattern was King Cole Luxury Merino DK in the color caribbean blue, this is so lovely and soft to use.

Yarn:

The wool i used for this pattern is King Cole Luxury Merino DK it is made from 100% Merino wool and it is lovely and soft and comes in a great range of colors. This is a superwash yarn and the reason why i chose a superwash is because it stretches and this really opens up the chain spaces and makes it really light and airy. If you are having trouble getting hold of this beautiful yarn i would recommend using another superwash yarn like this Cascade 220 DK.

For this crochet shawl pattern you will need 1071 yards.

  • 50 grams
  • 153 yards/140 meters
  • 100% Merino Wool
  • Machine Washable

Yarn Substitutions:

You can easily substitute the yarn i used for a more of a suitable one for you. Just remember acrylic yarn doesn’t wet block as well as wool but you could always carefully steam block your shawl.
