Design
How cute is this small hanging basket! I was literally playing around with some super chunky yarn whilst watching Harry Potter and created this pattern. My daughter of course wanted one straight away to have for her little dolls to sleep in so i gave her the original one to play with whilst i tweaked the design.

I then made a second small hanging basket but used two strands of super chunky yarn held together to make it more sturdy and voila! this little beauty was made. Even though i loved the first version of this pattern i found if you put something a little heavier inside the basket it would kind of just droop and this will of course over time stretch out the yarn and it probably wont go back to it’s original shape. I found using two strands of yarn held together made it really sturdy so there was no drooping and it held better when holding something.
I used my small hanging basket to put small plants in, i thought it was such a cute way to display plants around the home but you could use it to put anything small in. After making the small version i decided to make a bigger version and it turned out just as cute!
For the medium sized chunky hanging basket you could put some bigger plants in compared to the small one or you could use it for storage, now the medium sized isn’t huge, it has a 9.5 inch diameter and 5.5 height so baring that in mind you would just use it to store smaller things in.
For this crochet pattern i used dc stitches for the main part of it and some sc stitches around the top so as you can tell these are really easy to do. This pattern is worked in the round and it’s so quick to do, you could easily make quite a few of these in a day to go around your house so it really is a great home decor piece.
Yarn:
For this home decor pattern i used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick. I absolutely love this yarn as it’s so easy to work with and quite soft. This yarn is perfect for cozy accessories around the home, scarves and even clothing! I think this yarn gives out wonderful stitch definition and comes in some really beautiful colors. This pattern you would need 160 yards for the small and 200 yards for the medium sized chunky hanging basket.

Yarn Substitutions:
You can easily substitute the yarn i used for a more of an affordable yarn or one that hasn’t got any wool in it, here are some of my yarn substitution suggestions. If you substitute your yarn just remember the sizing may change slightly.
