I had been thinking about these Triangle Coasters for a little while now, i have got a stash of Rico Creative Cotton Aran and i knew this yarn would be absolutely perfect for this crochet pattern. For this coaster pattern i doubled up on the yarn so it wasn’t all flimsy, ahhh you guys they turned out perfect! Trust me you have to crochet these asap.

This crochet triangle coaster project was such a quick one to make and they are so different than what you would normally see for a crochet coaster pattern. Originally i was going to make them with pom poms on the ends of each point but i just looove tassles more ha ha! But side note – If you want to make them with poms poms you can totally do this either by using a pom pom maker or do it by hand which ever you find easier.
You could make your crochet triangle coaster in a solid color like i have or you could do them in stripes or even create a two tone stripe effect, i mean these are your coasters so anything goes and I love how you can customize this project which is a great way to put your own stamp on things when you crochet.
Yarn:
For this project i used the Rico Creative Cotton Aran which is such a dream to work with, it comes in such an array of colors which are so fresh, vibrant and modern. You will need 186 yards for this project.
Cotton yarns are perfect for crocheting Summer projects like this one.

Yarn Substitutions:
It is very easy to substitute this yarn all you would need to do is find a yarn that is 100% cotton and one that is either aran or worsted weight.

Notes:
- This pattern is worked by holding x2 strands of yarn together
- Ch1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a sc from here and throughout unless otherwise stated
Boho Triangle Coasters
R1. Leaving a 10 inch tail, Ch2, 2sc in 2nd ch from hook, turn (2sc)
R2. Ch1, 2sc in each sc, turn (4sc)
R3. Ch1, 1sc in each sc across, turn (4sc)

R4. Ch1, 2sc in very first sc, 1sc in each sc across, 2sc in last sc, turn (6sc)
R5. Ch1, 1sc in each sc across, turn (6sc)
Repeat rows 4 and 5 until you have 20sc altogether finishing on row 5.
Fasten off leaving a 10 inch tail approx. Move on to Tassles.
Tassles
Dividing your Tassles:
- Cut 26 strands of yarn around 10 inches long
- Divide the 26 strands in to 3 groups – You will need two piles of 8 and one pile of 10
- The two piles of 8 will be for the corners you already left 10 inch tails on
- The one pile of 10 will be for the corner that has no tails
Notes:
- You may need to use a bigger crochet hook to pull the yarn strands through your corners – I used a 6.5mm crochet hook
Attaching Tassles:
- Grab your first pile of 8 strands, fold them in half to make a loop at the half way mark
- Locate the first corner that has two strands already attached, put your hook through the stitch from back of the triangle to the front of the triangle
- Put your crochet hook through the loop of 8 strands, pull the loop through the stitch on the triangle
- Remove your crochet hook
- Put your thumb and first finger though the loops and grab all the ends of the yarn (all 10 of them) and pull through
- Give a pull on each yarn strand to tighten the loop and secure
- Give the ends of the yarn a trim, i trimmed mine at 2 inches
Now repeat this for your other corner that has x2 strands of yarn already attached and then with you last pile of 10 strands repeat on the last empty corner.
I would highly recommend blocking your work!
Blocking:
Soak finished coasters for 20 minutes in cool water and squeeze excess water out gently. Do not twist. Lay damp coasters on blocking boards and use blocking pins to hold in place. Let your coasters dry completely before unpinning.
