Design
This is a very simple crochet baby blanket pattern with very basic crochet stitches like dc stitch and the chain stitch so it is perfect for a beginner crocheter, the blanket itself is a very open lacy design and would be perfect for more of a lighter blanket in the warmer weather or it would be perfect to crochet if the baby is having it’s first photo shoot.
I made my blanket using cotton yarn so you can see the stitch definition more better but this can easily be done in any yarn you would prefer. The chunkier the yarn the bigger the hole spaces will be so just keep that in mind when choosing your yarn. This would also look lovely in self striping yarn.
I also blocked the Nora baby blanket just so you could see the stitches flatter and no border has been added so you can easily add your own or leave it unworked, whichever you prefer. This is a very quick baby blanket to work i made it in a sampler size, in the paid PDF version i also include the multiples so you can make whatever size you would like!
Yarn:
For this project i used the Rico Creative Cotton Aran which is such a dream to work with, it comes in such an array of colors which are so fresh, vibrant and modern. You will need 186 yards for this project using this exact yarn and hook and the same blanket size.
Cotton yarns are perfect for crocheting Summer projects like this one and for crochet coasters.

Let’s get to the pattern!
Remember that you can choose the neat ad free, printable PDF version HERE which includes MULTIPLES.
R1. Ch88, 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in next 2 chains * Ch3, skip next 3chs, 1dc in next 3chs * Repeat across to last 4chs, ch3, skip next 3chs, 1dc in last ch, turn
R2. Ch1, 1dc in first dc * 3dc in next ch3 space, ch3 * Repeat across to last ch3 space, 1dc in top of very last st, turn
R3. Ch1, 1dc in first dc * 3dc in next ch3 space, ch3 * Repeat across to last ch3 space, 1dc in top of very last dc, turn
Repeat row 3 until baby blanket measures 18.5 inches (approx)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Move on to blocking – this is optional, i like my blankets to lay completely flat.
Notes:
- If you would like your blanket longer, carry on repeating row 3 but please note you will need more yarn to do this.
- You can now add a border to your blanket if you wish to, this will also require more yarn.
Blocking:
Soak finished baby blanket for 20 minutes in cool water and squeeze excess water out gently. Do not twist. Lay damp shawl on blocking boards and stretch to 16.5 inch width x 18.5 inch height (or to your desired width and height) use blocking pins to hold in place. Let your blanket dry completely before unpinning.
