Design
The Sea Shells Shawl is made using four crochet stitches which creates this beautiful and intricate lacy shell design. The shawl is crocheted in one piece starting at one end and working in rows all way to the other end which makes it a rectangle shape. It’s an absolute dream to work up and can be made quite quickly once you get used to the stitch layout. I would say this pattern is for the intermediate crocheter due to knowing where to put your stitches. I have explained it as well as possible in the free pattern below so if you are a advanced beginner crocheter you may want to try it out.

What Yarn Did You Use?
For this shawl pattern i used Cascade 220 which has an AMAZING amount of different shades which i absolutely love when choosing yarn for projects. It is made with 100% highland Peruvian wool and is perfect for shawl projects as it blocks so nicely as it really opens up the stitch definition and that is exactly what you want when blocking a shawl.
This yarn is classed as more of a high end yarn but when you are making a shawl that you want to last for years then you should go for a yarn that will stand the test of time and i really feel this yarn is perfect for that.

Yarn Substitutions
You can easily substitute the yarn i used for a more of an affordable yarn or one that is machine washable. Just remember acrylic yarn doesn’t wet block as well as wool but you could always carefully steam block your shawl.

Notes:
- I would advise blocking your shawl to sort out any unevenness and for it to lay completely flat
- This shawl will stretch quite a bit as the lacy stitches will really open out
Soak the finished shawl for 20 minutes in cool water and squeeze excess water out gently. Do not twist. Lay damp shawl on blocking boards and block using blocking pins to hold in place and to neaten out any uneven edges. Let your shawl dry completely before unpinning.
