Today’s free crochet pattern are these Simple Christmas Stars are the perfect stash busting project leading up to Christmas as you can hang them on your tree, use them as gift tags or give them as small simple gifts to your loved ones and they are just so quick and simple to make even for a beginner crocheter.
Last year i designed these Christmas Star Ornaments and they went down an absolute storm and they kept popping up everywhere, thank you so much for sharing them with us all! This year i wanted to do another star ornament so i copied my star pattern from the Star Wall Hanging i made a while back and don’t they look cute to use at Christmas.
For this project i used cotton yarn but you can use any yarn that you have in your stash and any weight yarn will do, just make sure to use the corresponding hook, these Simple Christmas Stars use basic crochet stitches that are easy to learn and the pattern is worked in the round.
Yarn:
For this project i used the Rico Creative Cotton Aran which is such a dream to work with, it comes in such an array of colors which are so fresh, vibrant and modern. You will need 80 yards for this project.
Cotton yarns are perfect for crocheting Summer projects like this one.

Yarn Substitutions:
It is very easy to substitute this yarn all you would need to do is find a yarn that is 100% cotton and one that is either aran or worsted weight.

R1. Ch5, join with a slip stitch to beg ch to form a ring, ch1 (does not count as a stitch) Work (3dc, ch1) 5 times altogether in the ring, join with a slip stitch to beg dc (x5 (3dc, ch1)
R2. Slip stitch in to first ch1 space, ch1 (does not count as a stitch) Work (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in each ch2 space around, join with a slip stitch to beg dc (x5 (3dc, ch2, 3dc)
