The Treble Crochet Stitch

Stitches Used:

  • Ch – Chain
  • Tr – Treble Crochet

Stitches broken down into easy steps:

Ch – Chain

  • Make a slip knot, insert your hook into the slip knot loop.
  • Yarn over and pull up a new loop.
  • The first chain stitch is now complete.
  • Keep repeating the above steps to make the next chain stitch and the rest of the foundation chain.

Tr – Treble Crochet

  • Yarn over twice. Insert the hook into the allocated stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop.
  • Yarn over and pull through two loops on your hook.
  • Yarn over and pull through two loops on your hook.
  • Yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook.

Written In:

This pattern is written using American standard crochet terminology.

Notes:

  • This crochet pattern is worked in rows starting from the bottom working towards the top, turn your piece over at the end of each row.
  • Ch2 at the start of each row does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.
  • Repeat what is in between the stars from * to * until the end of the round.
  • If you have a ** in your row you need to follow the pattern from * to * across the entire row and then when you get near the end of the row you will finish your last repeat at ** because you can no longer complete the entire repeat then follow what it says to do to complete the row.
  • Read each row carefully before starting the row.

Multiples:

  • You can use any chain number

Written Instructions for the Treble Crochet Stitch:

R1. Chain your desired width using the multiples above, 1tr in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn

Alt. Make a chainless foundation of tr stitches in your desired width using the multiples, turn

R2. Ch2, 1tr in each tr across until you get to the turning chain, 1tr in top of the turning chain, turn

R3. Ch2, 1tr in each tr across, turn

Repeat row 3 until you reach your desired length.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

R1. Chain your desired width using the multiples above, 1tr in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn

  • Place your first tr stitch in the 3rd ch from the hook – the arrow is pointing to it.

  • Picture shows your first tr stitch made in 3rd ch from the hook.

  • After you have completed row 1 this is what it should look like.

R2. Ch2, 1tr in each tr across until you get to the turning chain, 1tr in top of the turning chain, turn

  • After you have made your ch2, the arrow shows you where you will place your first tr stitch.

  • This is what row 2 will look like when you do your first tr.

  • Place your last tr in the turning chain, the arrow is pointing to it.

  • This is what the end of the row will look like once you have your last tr stitch.

  • After you have completed row 2 this is what it should look like.

R3. Ch2, 1tr in each tr across, turn

  • This is what row 3 will look like when you do your first tr.

  • Make sure you don’t miss the last tr stitch out, the arrow is pointing to it.

  • You should have a straight edge if you have placed all your tr stitches correctly.

  • After you have completed row 3 this is what it should look like.

Repeat row 3 until you reach your desired length.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
