This 9 scrap yarn crochet projects is my very first crochet roundup that i have ever done and to kick it off i wanted to pick some crochet patterns that are super easy and quick to get stuck in to but i also wanted to give you crochet patterns that could use up some of yarn stash and best of all, all these crochet patterns are free to enjoy.
Let’s get stuck into these 9 scrap yarn crochet projects…
1. Crochet Hair Bow
This is a super quick pattern to make and the crochet hair bow is perfect for kids and adults too!
The hair bow is worked in blohdc stitch and i love how it gives that rib effect but i always think when it’s done with thin yarn it looks like it has a knitted effect which i absolutely love and i hope you do too.
I made the bow by crocheting a rectangle first then joining the ends together which doubles the thickness of the bow and then wrapped a long piece of yarn around the middle to clinch it in so it gives it that ‘bow’ effect and then attached a crocodile clip.

This pattern works in the round and only has three rounds to complete using mainly the bobble stitch and you have then made a star. If you have never done a bobble stitch before, don’t worry, i have explained this special stitch under ‘abbreviations’ and best of all this pattern can be done in any yarn and in any weight!

3. Boho Triangle Coaster
This crochet triangle coaster project was such a quick one to make and they are so different than what you would normally see for a crochet coaster pattern. Originally i was going to make them with pom poms on the ends of each point but i just looove tassles more ha ha! But side note – If you want to make them with poms poms you can totally do this either by using a pom pom maker or do it by hand which ever you find easier.

4. Star Wall Hanging
I made this very quick crochet star wall hanging pattern for this week and i thought this could be hung up at Christmas time but it’s also perfect for any time of year.
I made my crochet star using tshirt yarn and a size 12mm crochet hook so it was thick and chunky but you could easily make it with a more delicate yarn and smaller hook. The choice is yours!

6. Boho Hexagon Coaster
Today’s free crochet pattern is the boho hexagon coaster, with the success of the boho triangle coaster i thought why not do another coaster shape and here it is! Again this is another stash busting project as it really doesn’t take much yarn at all, you will hold two strands of yarn at one time and work from the middle outwards so you are working in the round.

7. Granny Square Fingerless Gloves
With these Granny Square Fingerless Gloves i designed them as simple as they could possibly be so they would be perfect for beginner crocheters. You will start by crocheting a square that fits your hand and then simply seam them together down one side and leave a gap for your thumb hole, how simple is that?!
For this crochet project i used scrap yarn that i had leftover from shawl patterns so i decided to use that, i made mine in a color sequence but you could easily make every round a different color depending on what you got in your stash. I used aran yarn for mine from Cascade Yarns, you can use any yarn for yours just make sure your square fits your hand, it’s really as simple as that.

8. Lacy Flower Coaster
Today’s FREE crochet pattern is the Lacy Flower Coaster, this is such a fun coaster to work up, this one is quite a lacy design and will definitely need blocking after you have worked it up so it sits right and lays completely flat. This crochet pattern is worked in the round meaning you will start from the center of the coaster and then work outwards. This is a beginner plus pattern as i have used special stitches which i have explained under the special stitches tab and these are picot stitches which are easy enough stitches to do as long as you know how to do them.
